Well, I know I said I might not post for a while because of our trips/moving, etc...but I think this cause is good reason to post because, well, we got engaged last night! [shocker, I know!]
It all started when he got out of his car with a rose in his hand... Ry doesn't just bring me flowers...so I started to get a hunch.
We had an appointment to take engagement pictures with a lady I go to church with. She's a photographer and offered to take our engagements for free (soo nice of her!) and since we're both leaving for school this week, last night was kind of our last night to do it. I was for sure we'd be engaged by then, but we weren't....and yesterday rolled around and I was wanting to cancel the whole session because WHO TAKES ENGAGEMENT PICTURES WITHOUT BEING ENGAGED?
I tried to back out but Ryan insisted that we go ahead because it was "such a nice favor for her to do for us" and "we should take advantage of it since it's free!" so reluctantly, I went.
We met up with our photographer and we sat down on a bench while she set up. Then Ryan pulled out this ring box and my heart started to pound, but inside there was his great grandma's ring he brought for me to wear during the session so I wouldn't feel so dumb. I was grateful and thought that would be a cute touch, so I start to put it on...but then I looked up and saw Ry getting down on one knee, pulling out the real mcdeal. I was floored! I kept saying, "shutup! SHUTUP!" and then I said, "So, are you gunna ask me?"
He finally spit out the words, "Ok, Will you marry me?" and I answered with a few hundred kisses.
And the best part? Our photographer was there to capture the whole thing!
Needless to say, I'm a happy grateful blessed girl who gets to marry her BFF and I'm so excited to say that it's official!
I had to do the obnoxious and bratty ring pose...sorry...
The ring is just perfect...modernly vintage...or vintagely modern? Either way I love it. We picked it out at a jewelry store here in KC called
Meierotto's (HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it! We spent hours in there searching through thousands and thousands of ring sets...and we got this ring for half the price as other stores!)
But all the hub bub aside, marriage is going to be the biggest blessing in our lives. It's been such a crazy long road for us but to finally see how it's all come together to bless our lives in this way is nothing short of a miracle. I guess this is a testimony to me that "things have a way of working themselves out."
But personally, this is better than just "working out."
XOXO
